Our stellar Brightwater Residential Aged Care team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dietitian who is passionate in supporting clients within the aged care space within our various facilities.

The role is offered on a Permanent Part time basis at 45 hours per fortnight and you will enjoy the flexibility and balance of working between our various sites across the Perth metro.

In this exciting role you will be working with our clients aged 65 and above, overseeing a diverse and interesting caseload that includes nutrition therapy (malnutrition, wound healing, post-surgery management) and chronic disease management (CKD, enteral feeds, T2DM, IBD, IBS, dysphagia).

We are a caring and progressive team including 80+ multidisciplinary therapists that collaborate closely to deliver exceptional client outcomes.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Work in collaboration with and provide support to clinical teams to assess the nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans of clients, and develop and implement client dietary care plans while providing nutritional counselling.
  • Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine the appropriate nutritional needs and diet restrictions of the client.
  • Communicate appropriately with staff, clients and their representatives in regard to: identifying the client’s individualised goals; developing strategies relating to mealtime management (including diet modification), dysphagia and communication, supporting staff in relation to education and training while providing information about treatment and care in a professional manner that shows respect for individuals.
  • Provide information to individuals and groups on the principles of good nutrition and healthy eating habits. Monitor nutrition as required to improve quality of life for clients.
  • Provide comprehensive assessments and nutritional strategies to client groups of a complex nature.
  • Provide training and assessment of staff and provide support to IPE programs as required.

The ideal candidate will have the Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience detailed below: 

  • Possess a tertiary qualification in Dietetics.
  • Qualified and registered as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with Dietitians Australia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in best practice principles, methods, and procedures in dietetics with previous skills and experience as a Dietitian in various environments.
  • Working knowledge of occupational safety and health legislation; and where relevant, the Aged Care Act (1997); and/or Disability Services Commission Standards (1988).
  • First Aid Certificate less than 3 years old (desirable; essential if providing services for Brightwater At Home clients).
  • Up to date Flu Vaccination and Covid 19 vaccinations
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Possess a current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence as defined by the Department of Transport WA (DoTWA)
  • Satisfactory National Police Certificate obtained within the last 12 months.
