Community Support Worker - Canning Vale

  • 496942
  • 2A Walter Road West, Brightwater Inglewood, Inglewood, WA, Australia, 6052
  • Permanent Part-time

Do you have a passion for working with the elderly?

Do you want to make a difference in someone’s life by assisting them to enjoy a full and independent life in their own home?

We are seeking a Community Support Worker with significant experience, living in Canning Vale, Southern River, Leeming and Piara Waters areas and willing to provide personal care services throughout the Perth metropolitan area in our newly created pool/float positions.

These pool/float positions are a little different to that of a mainstream Community Support Worker position – such as:

  • Set days and hours - Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Cover sick calls – these may be allocated as early as 7am for an 8am start in the morning on the day of the service
  • Cover leave periods
  • If no services allocated, you may be required to come into Inglewood to assist with Scheduling or Admin duties for Brightwater at Home
  • Willing to travel a distance to first client (we endeavour to avoid travel more than 30-45 minutes to first client but there may be requirement to occasionally do so if covering for sick or leave periods)

Essential availability:  Permanent Part Time (Contracted 55 hours per fortnight): Monday to Friday - 8am to 2pm

Travel: Must be willing to travel throughout the entire Perth metropolitan area with their own vehicle

Essential: The ability to be flexible on a daily basis with an ever-changing roster and travel requirement

Brightwater can offer you:

  • Travel within the community and receive an allowance of $0.99 cents per km
  • Mobile phone for work purposes

About the role:

You will be visiting our elderly clients in their own private homes, assisting them to live independently in the community by supporting them with day-to-day tasks, social access and sometimes just keeping them company. Each day is different with different needs and some of the duties include:

  • Delivering quality care and support by ensuring the holistic needs of our clients are met in accordance with their Care Plan and care package
  • Personal care including showering, dressing and continence care
  • Facilitating community access opportunities for our clients
  • Providing cleaning, laundry and meal preparation services
  • Completing documentation and reports

Our friendly Brightwater At Home team will provide all the training and support you require to be the best Community Support Worker that you can be.

About you and what you will need:

  • You are comfortable working on your own, and more importantly, care about our clients as much as we do
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • An empathetic and considerate nature and a client-focused approach
  • The ability to problem-solve and work flexibly without direct supervision
  • Certificate III in Aged Care/Disability (desirable).
  • A First Aid Certificate (less than 3 years old) + CPR if more than 12 months old
  • A current valid driver’s licence to drive in Western Australia, as defined by the WA Department of Transport. (essential)
  • A reliable, insured car (essential)
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance that is less than one year old

Applications must be submitted through Brightwater’s online portal.  We will not accept applications via email.

Please email Helen via [email protected] should you require any more information.
