We are seeking an experienced Senior Policy Officer to lead the review, development, quality assurance, and maintenance of organisational policies and procedures for Brightwater.  This is a permanent full-time position working with our new Clinical Excellence team based in our head office in Inglewood.

Reporting to the General Manager Quality, Safety and Policy, you will lead a small team that is responsible for providing advice on policy development and ensures all documents are contemporary, evidence‑based, and responsive to legislative and regulatory changes. You will lead by providing direction, coaching, and oversight to ensure a consistent, high‑quality approach to policy development and governance across the organisation.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s Policy Framework.
  • Provide expert policy advice, background research, and guidance to subject matter experts, Policy Owners, and Policy Custodians.
  • Coordinate and support comprehensive policy consultation processes to ensure timely, well‑informed, and coordinated policy development, review, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Conduct research, information gathering, and analysis to inform policy content and ensure documents are aligned with organisational needs.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for policy implementation processes to support effective embedding of new or revised policies.
  • Oversee the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Brightwater’s electronic policy library.
  • Identify and report risks associated with policy development, review, or rescission

 

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Considerable experience in policy development, consultation, implementation, and evaluation and working at a similar level leading a small team.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of information sources to identify appropriate, contemporary evidence to support policy development.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide written advice to diverse stakeholders, with experience in the preparation of reports, briefs, business cases and project plans.
  • Well-developed skills in problem solving, the ability to organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines and use resources effectively, safely and efficiently.
  • Working knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards and/or National Disability Insurance Scheme Practice Standards and Quality Indicators (desirable).
  • Awareness and understanding of the issues, legislation, standards and practices relevant to the provision of safe, high quality and person-centred care in aged care and disability services (desirable).
  • Satisfactory National Police Certificate obtained within the last 12 months.
